Connect to Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

Overview

This guide will walk you through establishing a connection required for the Blackbaud Financial Edge (FE) NXT integration.  It's divided into three sections. 

• Before You Begin
• Authorize Paylocity in Blackbaud FE NXT Account
• Allow Journal codes
• Establish Connection

Section 1: Before You Begin

Blackbaud FE NXT Administrator Role

• You'll need to have the Organization Admin role in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT. 

Section 2: Authorize Paylocity in Blackbaud FE NXT

• Step 1: To authorize the Paylocity application, you must perform a one-time authorization in Blackbaud. Navigate to Blackbaud's Marketplace, https://app.blackbaud.com/marketplace.

• Step 2: Select Manage

• Step 3: On the next screen, select Connect app

• Step 4: The Connect Application window will appear.

Enter the Application ID: 8770dc31-ae1a-4b6d-b514-8404731464f1

• Step 5: Click the Connect button.

Section 3: Allow journal codes in Blackbaud FE NXT

You need to allow Paylocity access to the Blackbaud journal code that will be used in the integration. The journal code provided must match the journal code type you want Paylocity to generate using its GL data. 

• Step 1: Log into Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
• Step 2: Go to General ledger, then click on Settings.

• Step 3: In the Business rules section, click on Journal Entry.

• Step 4: Click Edit under the Allow these journal codes to be used during manual journal entry section. Then click the search icon. 

• Step 5: Choose the journal code you wish Paylocity to use when creating journal entries, then click Select.
  • For example, if you want Paylocity to create a Payroll journal, simply select Payroll. If you want Paylocity to create a Journal Entry, just click Journal Entry.
  • Supported Journals include:
    • Journal Entry
    • Accounts Payable
    • Allocation Management 
    • Cash Management
    • Purchase Orders
    • Payroll
    • Student Billing
    • Fixed Assets
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash Receipts
    • The Raiser's Edge

• Step 6: After returning to the previous page, click Save.

Section 4: Establish Connection

Task 1: Make connection in Marketplace

• Step 1: If your Paylocity Marketplace wizard is still open, enter the values copied from the previous Sections into the authentication fields and click Authenticate (see step 5 below). If you've navigated away and need to reopen the wizard, return to Paylocity and navigate to the ☰ Workspace selection menu in the upper-left corner of the page. Select Marketplace.

• Step 2: Select My Integrations.

• Step 3: Select Drafts.

• Step 4: Select the Continue Setup button on the Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT app tile.

• Step 5: Enter the values copied from the previous Sections into the authentication fields and click Authenticate.
